Mary Grainger received her B.S. in Accountancy from the University of Houston in 1982. Upon graduation she worked with Larry Kozielski, CPA and Monheit, Ogle & Co., both local accounting firms. In 1985 Monheit, Ogle & Co. merged with the national firm of Spicer & Oppenheim where she continued to work as tax associate up to manager of the Small Business Department, providing accounting and tax services to individuals and business clients.
In 1994 Mary joined the local firm of Maddox, Thomson and Associates where she began as a tax associate and progressed to a senior tax manager providing tax services to high net worth individuals and their related businesses, family partnerships, estates and trusts, as well as estate planning for those same entities. With over 30 years of experience, Mary has developed extensive experience with general accounting and federal and state taxation compliance and planning.
In January, 2013 Mary joined Catherine A. Atkins as a partner and formed the new entity of Atkins & Grainger, PLLC. At Atkins & Grainger it is our combined experience and expertise that will promote outstanding service to clients through our dedication to the underlying principals of value and quality, including responsiveness and the close personal and professional attention we serve our clients.
On a personal note, Mary has two grown children and lives with her husband and family pets in The Woodlands. She enjoys time with her family, gardening, sewing and reading. Mary is a member of the Texas Society of CPA’s, the Houston Chapter of CPA’s, the AICPA and has served as prior vice president and treasurer of a local chapter of the American Business Women’s Association, being awarded the honor of Woman of the Year in 1999.
